Christian Velcich (Florence, 1995) is a photographer and visual artist whose work blends lyrical imagery with anthropological research. He investigates the connections between people, places, and memory, focusing on the relationship between humans and the environment and nurturing a dialogue between culture and nature. After graduating in photography from CFP Bauer in Milan, he completed a master’s degree in documentary photography at Fondazione Studio Marangoni.
He has taken part in prestigious exhibitions and residencies. In 2022 he was shortlisted for Urbanautica, featured in the British Journal of Photography’s “Edition 365” and participated in the “Photobuster” residency with the Cesura Collective. He won the 2nd prize at the “Werther Colonna” SiFest and was a finalist for the Ispa Prize.
In 2023, he attended the Jack London School and was a finalist at PhEST in Monopoli. In 2024, he took part in the Canon Student Development Programme, the “Futuri Prossimi” residency in Turin, and Photomatch at the Exposed Photo Festival. He received the Culture Moves Europe grant and was selected for the 2025 ISSP Riga Residency.
His photojournalistic work has appeared in major international publications including The New York Times, The Guardian, Le Monde, Bloomberg, The Washington Post, and BBC.
